Our Founder

Tansi, I’m Angela Poundmaker

Angela Poundmaker is the Founder of Nurture Meditation, an Indigenous-led platform integrating art, science, and ancestral wisdom to replant wellness across Turtle Island. A Sixties Scoop Survivor and eighth-generation descendant of Chief Poundmaker, she is a Halifax-based facilitator specializing in Indigenous leadership and nervous system education. Angela draws on the legacy of her matriarchs and her lived experience in care to deliver trauma-informed, emotionally intelligent training for individuals, organizations, and institutions. Her life’s work is to restore wholeness through the power of culture, ceremony, and intergenerational growth; rooted in the wisdom of her past, present, and future Ancestors.

Indigenous Medicines as Relationship

In Indigenous worldviews, medicine is anything that restores balance to the mind, body, spirit, and community. Medicine is not limited to pharmaceuticals or illness care. It includes every practice that reconnects us to ourselves, to each other, and to the living world.

Breathwork, guided meditation, sound baths with quartz crystal bowls, and ceremony-based retreats are medicines because they stabilize the nervous system, strengthen empathy, and support emotionally intelligent communication—especially under stress.

These medicines are ancestral technologies of care, belonging, and relational leadership, designed to sustain dignity, safety, and accountability in every environment where people gather, work, and make decisions together. They build cultures of trust from the inside out.

Breathwork Facilitation

Our breathwork sessions, informed by Soma Breathwork training, combine rhythmic breathing, music, and guided visualization to oxygenate the body, calm the mind, and restore the parasympathetic nervous system. Especially supportive for those healing from Complex PTSD, our breathwork empowers individuals to release stress patterns and build emotional resilience.

Trained through the Lab of Meditation, our guided meditation experiences are trauma-sensitive and culturally grounded. Each session is intentionally designed to restore cognitive clarity, deepen self-awareness, and foster the emotional fluency needed for leadership, creativity, and connection.


Sound Baths with Quartz
Crystal Bowls

Soothe the System | Harmonize Brainwaves | Reconnect with Self

Our signature sound baths use pure-tone quartz crystal bowls—tuned to the body’s natural energy centers—to calm the nervous system and shift brainwave states. Trained through Toronto Sound Therapy, our facilitators offer immersive sonic experiences that support healing from burnout, overwhelm, and chronic stress.


Retreat Planning & Facilitation

We design and facilitate retreats for communities, organizations, and leaders seeking deep restoration and intentional transformation.
